The creation of the Biomedicine Research Institute of Buenos Aires - CONICET - Partner Institute of the Max Planck Society (IBioBA-MPSP) is the outcome of more than 20 years of fruitful collaboration and cooperation between researchers from Argentina and the Max Planck Society of Germany. This relationship laid down the foundations for greater cooperation between both parties.
In November 2007, an agreement on the creation of a Biomedical Institute was signed between Argentine authorities and the Vice-President of the Max Planck Society (MPS), Prof. Dr. Herbert Jäckle, being formalized with the corresponding agreement between the MPS and the National Research Council (CONICET) of Argentina.
According to the tradition of the Max Planck Society and to ensure excellent quality and productivity in the long term, the IBioBA-MPSP will be subjected to independent scientific assessments carried out by an advisory board composed of members of other international research institutions.
The IBioBA-MPSP will perform basic research in the interest of the general public. The Institute will contribute to the development of biomedical sciences in Argentina, aiming at the interconnection between basic and applied sciences and thus translating scientific information into technological development.
The IBioBA-MPSP is located in the Scientific and Technological Center (Polo) in Buenos Aires.
